Halloween is scratching at our door once more, whispering that it is time for our annual look into the intangible world of ghosts*.
This year we wanted to hear from people who have encountered ghosts, ask them what happened and what the encounter meant to them.
Al Robertson is a writer and musician. He is the author of Crashing Heaven and many spooky short stories.
Professor Christopher French is a Professor of Psychology and Co-ordinator, Anomalistic Psychology Research Unit. His research areas include the psychology of paranormal belief and ostensibly paranormal experiences.
The Rev Paul Turp is the vicar of St Leonard's church, Shoreditch. He has been vicar of Shoreditch for 32 years. He has a doctorate in The Theology of Metaphysics and has regularly helps people who have had disturbing experiences.
In the discussion following these short talks the audience will be invited to share their ghostly encounters while we all wonder what we really talk about when we talk about ghosts.
*We do ghosts a lot, actually, but we do make sure we always do ghosts at the event nearest to Halloween.

Join Mark Pilkington, Micah Hanks and more for as we ask the question: “What do we really talk about when we talk about UFOs?”
Aliens and UFO’s glide through every part of popular culture and are one of the most popular fortean topics. But what do we really talk about when we talk about UFOs? Do we mean alien invasion, sky phantoms, military conspiracies, psychic and paranormal phenomena , mass delusions or something else entirely?
The London Fortean Society has assembled a panel from some of the diverse edges of Ufology to discuss the state of UFOs, UFO thought and to ponder what the questions, as well as answers, we may need to work out the world of UFOs and UFO lore.
Mark Pilkington has written two books, Mirage Men (2010) and Far Out: 101 Strange Tales from Science’s Outer Edge (2007).
His writing has been published in numerous magazines and anthologies, including The Anomalist, Celeste, FHM, Fortean Times, Frieze, Sight and Sound, The Wire, the Time Out Book of London Walks Vol.2 and London Noir. Mark runs Strange Attractor Press and edits its acclaimed anthologies, Strange Attractor Journal.
Micah Hanks is a writer, researcher, podcaster, lecturer and radio personality whose work addresses a variety of areas, including history, politics, scientific theories and unexplained phenomena. He is author of several books, including his most recent work, The Ghost Rockets, as well as his 2011 release Magic, Mysticism and the Molecule: The Search for
Sentient Intelligence from Other Worlds. In 2012, his book The UFO Singularity explored themes that incorporated futurism and technology–and at times skeptically–into an analysis of UFO phenomenon.
Hanks has served as a consulting editor and columnist for FATE Magazine, and he is a staff blogger for Mysterious Universe. He produces the weekly Gralien Report podcast in addition to a news and current events podcast, Middle Theory
Mike Clelland blogs at Hidden Experience . We are very keen to hear of his research in to 'owls and the UFO abductee' and more.
More panelists to be announced shortly.
